What this site collects, and why.

Last updated July 12, 2026.

Breaking Free collects only the information needed to send articles, respond to inquiries, understand whether the site is useful, and keep the website working. Your personal information is not sold.

Decision Map and service inquiries

If you submit an inquiry, the site collects your name, email address, and the information you choose to provide about your decision. That information is emailed to [email protected] so Ashleigh can respond. Do not include account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, medical records, or other highly sensitive information in the form.

Inquiry information is kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, evaluate a possible engagement, provide agreed services, meet professional obligations, or maintain appropriate business records.

Email subscriptions

Newsletter subscriptions are processed by Buttondown. Buttondown receives the email address you submit and handles delivery and unsubscribe requests under its own privacy terms. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option. Submitting a service inquiry does not add you to the newsletter.

Website analytics

Breaking Free may use Google Analytics and Plausible Analytics to understand page visits and actions such as opening the Decision Map or starting an inquiry. Conversion events contain page paths and event names, not the name, email, or written answers entered in the inquiry form. Analytics providers may process technical information such as browser, device, approximate location, referral source, and network information according to their own privacy terms.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Bluehost and may use Cloudflare for security and traffic protection. Like most hosting and security services, they may process IP addresses, request details, and server logs to deliver and protect the site. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from publication emails at any time. You may also ask about, correct, or request deletion of personal information submitted directly to Breaking Free, subject to any information that must be retained for legal, professional, security, or recordkeeping reasons.
